Continuum: High Tech Fashion

Mary Huang, founder of fashion brand Continuum, is presenting her vision when it comes to fashion in the 21st century. Huang says that with Continuum, the goal was to try to redefine how you do fashion. According to Huang, the fashion industry continues to use outdated traditional design and manufacturing methods and believes that in the 21st century fashion will be more about software and digital technology.

Huang explains how she approaches the design process. Designing manually, then digitally in CAD software, then work on another software to do layer work on the model.

The end result are printed shoes. From design to manufacturing, all inside her small studio in Brooklyn.

“Now that people are putting value into how something is made, it’s a good time to think about what fashion means to us. Fashion shouldn’t stay the same as it was in the last 100-500 years, fashion could be made differently”
